ΠΑΜΠΟΝΤΙΑΚΗ ΟΜΟΣΠΟΝΔΙΑ ΗΠΑ & ΚΑΝΑΔΑ

The Pan-Pontian Federation of USA & Canada offers an essay award for High School seniors working toward a four-year degree or College freshmen, sophomore and juniors students already enrolled.

The Pan-Pontian Federation will present one $ 2,000 award, in the form of a check.

1. Applicants must be of Pontian decent and their parents or guardians must be members of a Pontian Society in USA and Canada or members of the Holy Institution Panagia Soumela. Applicants are also eligible if they are part of dance or theatrical groups of any member organization. Verification letter will be required by the Society prior of releasing award.

2. Applications must be sent to the Chairman of the Essay Award committee who in turn will forward them to the Examiners Committee. All names and personal information will be covered by the Essay award Committee so that the examiners will not know the name of the candidates when they grade their essays.

3. The winner will be required to submit for verification purposes a current grade report (for high school applicants) or official transcripts (for college students).

4. The topic of the essay is “What means to you being of Greek Pontian descent” or regarding the “Greek Pontian Genocide”.

All essays are expected in English, but also in Greek will be acceptable. The essay should be 5 (minimum) to 10 pages (maximum) typed on 8.5”x11” inched sheets with 0.6 inches margins all around and using single line spaced paragraphs with arial or times roman font of size 10.

5. All information requested on the application form must be completed and will be held confidential.

6. The deadline for applying is April 30th. All submittals must be postmarked no later than April 30th, applications postmarked after the deadline will be rejected.
