Τα αποκαλυπτήρια ενός μνημείου σηματοδοτoύν την 93η επέτειο της Γενοκτονίας των Ελλήνων του Πόντου στην Αυστραλία.
Η πρώτη του είδους της, η επίσημη παρουσίαση ενός μνημείου αφιερωμένο στα θύματα της Γενοκτονίας των Ελλήνων, Ασσυρίων και Αρμενίων έλαβε χώρα στις 20 Μαΐου 2012 στο Salisbury της Νότιας Αυστραλίας. Ο Αξιότιμος βουλευτής Jack Snelling, μαζί με τους Anna Volis, Elena Harrison και Paul Azzo έκαναν τα αποκαλυπτήρια του Μνημείου.
Μεταξύ των ομιλητών ήταν:
Ο Θεοφιλέστατος Επίσκοπος Νίκανδρος των Doryleon, ο αξιότιμος βουλευτής Jack Snelling, ο εκπρόσωπος του Premier της Νότιας Αυστραλίας, ο αξιότιμος βουλευτής Michael Atkinson, η αξιότιμη βουλευτίνα Jennifer Rankine, ο υπουργός Πολυπολιτισμικών Υποθέσεων, η βουλευτίνα κα Isobel Redmond, ο εκπρόσωπος της αντιπολίτευσης κ. Christos Maniakis-Grivas, η Γενική Πρόξενος Ελλάδος της Νότιας Αυστραλίας κα Anna Volis, η πρόεδρος της Ποντιακής Αδελφότητας της Νότιας Αυστραλίας κ. Elena Harrison, ο πρόεδρος του Πολιτιστικού Συλλόγου Αρμενίων της Νότιας Αυστραλίας κ. Hermiz Shahen, ο Αναπληρωτής Γενικός Γραμματέας της Παγκόσμιας Συμμαχίας Ασσυρίων (AUA).
Στην ομιλία της, η ιθαγενής γερόντισσα Aunty Josie Agius, καλωσόρισε τον κόσμο στα Αγγλικά και στη ιθαγενή γλώσσα της γης Kauna. Η κα Anna Volis ευχαρίστησε τους παρευρισκόμενους και απηύθυνε ιδιαίτερες ευχαριστίες στον κ. Micheal Atkinson, πρωταθλητή της αναγνώρισης της Γενοκτονίας στο κοινοβούλιο της Νότιας Αυστραλίας, και στον Δήμαρχο του Salisbury Council.
Κοινότητες Ελλήνων, Ασσυρίων και Αρμενίων από όλη τη χώρα παρευρέθηκαν μαζί με τον πρόεδρο κ. David M. David από τη Αρμενική Εθνική Επιτροπή της Αυστραλίας (ANCA) και τον κ. Peter Stefanidis, Αντιπρόεδρο της Ομοσπονδίας Συλλόγων Ποντίων της Αυστραλίας
Πριν λίγες μέρες, τιμήθηκε η μνήμη των θυμάτων της Γενοκτονίας των Ελλήνων του Πόντου σε εκδήλωση που πραγματοποιήθηκε στο αμφιθέατρο του Κοινοβουλίου της Νέας Νότιας Ουαλίας και με ομιλία που πραγματοποιήθηκε από τον κεντρικό ομιλητή, τον καθηγητή κ. Colin Tats. Στην ομιλία του, ο καθηγητής Tats (Αυστραλιανό Ινστιτούτο για τις Σπουδές του Ολοκαυτώματος και της Γενοκτονίας), επικεντρώθηκε στην «Άρνηση της Γενοκτονίας και ο Ελεύθερος Λόγος».
Μια σειρά από εκδηλώσεις στο Σύδνεϋ, κατέληξαν με μια τελετή δενδροφύτευσης που πραγματοποιήθηκε στο Cook Park Kyeemagh στο αιγιαλό του Botany Bay. Μέλη από τη Παμποντιακή Ένωση της Παναγίας Σουμελά της Νέας Νότιας Ουαλίας, τη Ποντιακή Φιλόπτωχο Αδελφότητα "Ποντοξενιτέας" της Νέας Νότιας Ουαλίας, το Ποντιακό Πολιτιστικό και Εκπαιδευτικό Σύλλογο της Νέας Νότιας Ουαλίας και ο Ελληνικός Ποντιακός Σύλλογος του Wollongong "Διογένης" ενώθηκαν, στην μνήμη της Γενοκτονίας των Ελλήνων και την μνήμη της 19ης Μαΐου 1919.
The unveiling of a monument marks the 93rd anniversary of the Genocide of the Greeks of Pontos.
Once again the Pontian Brotherhood of South Australia has made history in conjunction with the Armenian cultural Association of South Australia
and the Assyrian Universal Alliance.
The first of its kind, the official unveiling of a monument dedicated to victims of the Greek, Assyrian and Armenian genocide has taken place on 20th May 2012 in Salisbury, South Australia. The Hon Jack Snelling MP, together with Anna Volis, Elena Harrison and Paul Azzo unveiled the Monument.

Indigenous elder, Aunty Josie Agius, in her speech, welcomed everyone in English and in the indigenous language of the Kauna land. Mrs. Anna Volis thanked everyone in attendance with special thanks to Micheal Atkinson, champion of the genocide recognition in the south Australian parliament, and to the Mayor of the city of Salisbury Ms Gilliam Aldridge.

Earlier this month, a commemoration service for the Pontian genocide was held at the New South Wales Parliament’s auditorium with an address by Keynote speaker Professor Colin Tatz. In his speech, Professor Tats (Australian Institute for Holocaust and Genocide Studies), focused on ‘Genocide Denial and Free Speech’.
A number of Commemoration services in Sydney, concluded with a tree planting ceremony which was held at Cook Park Kyeemagh on the Botany Bay forshore. Members from the Pan-Pontian United of the Virgin Soumela, Pontian Benevolent Brotherhood "Pontoxeniteas" of NSW, The Pontic Cultural and Educational Association of NSW Inc and The Greek Pontian Society of Wollongong “Deogenis”Inc, united in memoriam of the Greek genocide and commemoration of the 19 may 1919.
