It is with great pleasure that we invite you to Chicago for the 4th Youth Awareness Convention to be hosted by the Pan Pontian Federation of the USA-Canada on Labor Day weekend from Friday, August 29 through Sunday August 31, 2014.

Registration and Welcoming Glendi - 7 pm - 2 am Cultural Center of Hellenic American Community (Closed event - open only to participants who have registered for the convention)

8:30 am - 3:30 pm – Genocide Teaching Guide Seminar for Educators at Courtyard Hotel.
8:30 - 8:50 a.m. Ron Levitsky - Welcome/Introduction/Purposes of workshop
8:50 - 9:35 a.m. Anastasia Skoupas - “The Forgotten Genocide”
9:35 - 10:00 a.m. George Mavropoulos and Ron Levitsky - Introduce AMPHRC, resources, & teaching unit.
10:00 - 10:10 a.m. Break
10:10 - 10:40 a.m. Kelley Szany - “Context & Complicity: Teaching Genocide in the 21st Century Classroom”
10:40 - 11:30 a.m. Ron Levitsky - “Personal Testimonies” – Dr. Bartrop DVD clip (“Considering Genocide Testimony”). 
Begin small group activity using personal testimonies to create a lesson.
11:30 - 12:30 p.m. Lunch / review display of resources/connect
12:30 - 1:15 p.m. Peter Chresanthakes - “Anatolia College: 1886-1921”
1:15 - 2:00 p.m. Anastasia Skoupas - “Ottoman Genocide in Literature” – Tamama, Not Even My Name
2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Ron Levitsky - Continue small group work to create lesson.
3:00 - 3:15 p.m. Briefly share lessons.
3:15 - 3:30 p.m. Anastasia Skoupas and Ron Levitsky - Questions / Closure / Evaluation

10am - 3pm – Youth Workshops on Pontian culture and history at Meridian Banquet Hall. 
(shuttle will leave hotel at 9:30 a.m. and return at 3:30 p.m.)

10:00 - 10:30 a.m. Introductions / Ice breaker session
10:30 - 11:00 a.m. PowerPoint Presentation on the two Teaching Units about Hellenism in Asia Minor and the Ottoman Greek Genocide (presented by members of the Pontian Greek Society's youth group)
11:00 - 11:30 a.m. (Q and A and other activity based on Teaching Unit)
11:30 - 12:00 p.m. "Anatolia College 1886-1921" Peter Chresanthakes, CFA Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Anatolia College
12:00 - 12:30 p.m. "Muhabeti or Parakathi: Pontic memory and identity as singing dialogues"

12:30 - 4 pm - Pan-Pontian Federation Meetings at Courtyard Hotel
6 pm - 1am - Dinner Dance at the Meridian featuring Kostas Fetfatsidis (vocals and lyra) and Peter Skoupas (ntaouli) (shuttle will be available to and from hotel)
